Build Planner & Damage Calculator for Gothic 1 Remake
Plan your build for Gothic 1 Remake: strength, dexterity, mana, skills, weapon, armour, rings, amulet and spells. The Build Helper uses the values from the game code to calculate how much damage you deal and how many hits you need against every enemy in the Colony.
How to plan your build
- Level and learning points. Pick your target level and spend the learning points on attributes and skills – there is no respec, every learning point is final.
- Skills. One-handed, two-handed, bow, crossbow and the circles of magic – untrained, trained or master.
- Equipment. Weapon, armour, two rings and an amulet, plus permanent potions – each with its in-game stats.
- Pick an enemy. The Build Helper shows your damage per hit against that enemy and how many hits it takes to kill it.
Frequently asked questions
Does strength increase damage?
Yes. In melee, strength is added directly to the weapon damage; the enemy's armour against that damage type is subtracted, and at least 1 damage remains. With fists, strength counts 1.05, 1.15 or 1.25 times depending on your fist-fighting level.
Strength or dexterity?
One-handed, two-handed and fists use strength; bow and crossbow use dexterity. If you want both, you split your learning points – the Build Helper shows what each point is worth against your enemy.
Why won't the trainer teach me more strength?
Trainers raise strength and dexterity only up to a base value of 100. The cap counts your total including jewellery and permanent potions – take off rings and amulet before training, or the trainer refuses the points.

How do critical hits work?
In melee your chance to crit rises with your skill level; a critical hit deals double damage, counted after armour. Ranged attacks don’t roll crits, only headshots count 1.5 times. The Build Helper shows the exact chance for your weapon.
What is the best weapon?
It depends on your chapter, your attribute and the enemy. The weapons guide lists every weapon with damage, requirement, skill and from which chapter – in the Build Helper you test them against your enemy.
Which armour protects best?
Armour protects separately against edge, blunt, point, fire, wind, ice and energy. Which is best depends on the enemy: an orc hits differently than a fire mage.
Is a mage build worth it?
Spells cost mana per cast, and their damage rises with the circle of magic. The spells guide lists mana and damage of every rune and scroll; in the Build Helper you see how many casts an enemy takes.
Does the difficulty change my build?
Yes, on three levels: enemy stats, experience needed for the next level (Novice ×0.8, Gothic ×1.0, Hard ×1.2) and, on Novice, a free skill (one-handed trained). The Build Helper calculates with the chosen difficulty.
